6 Excel templates to help you organise your daily activities

Excel templates are a life-saver.

Previously we have explored the best Excel templates for project management and tracking and easy ways to create a business budget. These proved to be popular so we asked Anthony Stevens to present his best Excel templates for organizing day-to-day activities.

Managing your day-to-day activities is challenging if you have multiple tasks.

It requires Marie Kondo-like organizational skills.

You need to be meticulous in tracking every detail if you want to avoid missed appointments and deadlines, forgotten medications, events, commitments, and other equally essential activities or tasks.

If you are doing all these on your own, if you do not have an assistant or partner who’ll constantly remind you about your tasks, it’s going to be quite difficult.

Using a planner and setting reminders on your smartphone can help, but you need something more comprehensive and convenient. This is where Excel templates come in.

Microsoft Excel has a template for practically anything you need.

Excel templates have been extremely helpful for those who have been using them for years. They are pre-designed, so they have all the elements you need for comprehensive task management.

Templates are also simple, easy to download, and flexible as you can use them on your laptop, desktop, tablet, and smartphone.

Whether you work at home or are away from the house, you can regularly update your templates.

If you are not sure yet which template you need, check out the following list of some of the most popular Microsoft Excel templates for your day-to-day activities.

1.  Daily Schedule Template

Excel’s Daily Schedule template is a daily activity organizer. It is available in the template library.

You can list your activities, appointments, kids’ study and playtimes, and chores accordingly.

If you have a meeting every Wednesday at work, you can enter this detail into the template. You can even set the time when you want to start your day and customize it according to time intervals.

Check your daily schedule using your desktop or laptop and send the template to your tablet or smartphone so you can also access your daily schedule while you are on the move.

The Excel Daily Schedule template has features like pictures, charts, alt text for tables, and similar visual elements that help make it convenient and easy to read for users who use a screen reader.

2. Excel To-Do List

If the Daily Schedule template is a little complicated for you, try using Excel’s Simple To-Do List (available in Excel's template library) to track your tasks' progress.

Input your activity (things you need to do) and set the priority level for each. Enter the start and due dates, as well, and add a column for task status.

Once your activity is finished, the tracker will automatically mark it 100% complete.

3. Family Budget Planner

The Family Budget Planner is a premium Excel template (only available with a Premium Office 365 subscription)

It is the best tool for the efficient management of your family’s monthly budget.

Using the Family Budget Planner will help you monitor household expenses and project costs and track the movement of your money. You can divide your budget into different categories (ex. food, loans, transportation, and housing).

Aside from tracking expenses, you can also project your monthly income source and compare it side by side with your actual monthly income source.

4. Bill Paying Checklist

Excel’s Bill Paying Checklist (available in the Excel template library) helps track your payables.

The template allows you to list your recurring expenses, such as rent or mortgage, water, electricity, insurance, gas, and cleaning services. The list indicates the monthly amount you need to pay, due date, and date of payment. Once you’ve paid the bill, a checkmark will be placed in the Done column.

This bill paying template ensures that you’re never going to miss paying your dues ever again.

5. Personal Monthly Budget

This Personal Monthly Budget Template  is easy and convenient to use.

All you have to do is input the necessary information, like monthly expenses (i.e., rent or mortgage and utility bills) together with the amounts and due dates.

You don’t have to worry about computations and other mathematical elements; Excel will do that for you.

Also, you can customize your template according to the categories and subcategories you want to include.

The Excel Personal Monthly Budget spreadsheet is an accessible and printable template.

6. Simple Gantt Chart

Also available via Excel is the Simple Gantt Chart created by Vertex42.com.

This is an Excel template intended for businesses of any type and size. You can track your projects by phase, check the start and due dates, verify who a project is assigned to, and determine progress (by looking at the percentage of completed tasks).

You can share the Excel Gantt Chart template with your team members or employees.

Other Excel templates you can use are the Medication List,  Meal Planner,  Yearly Planner Calendar,  and Travel Budget Worksheet.

Excel templates make it easy and affordable for you to organize your day-to-day activities efficiently and conveniently.
